Help me understand…
What is a Lactation Consultant?
IBCLC® lactation consultants (LC) are recognised throughout the world as holding the premier global credential in the lactation care profession.
LC’s are committed to being abreast of up-to-date research and this is maintained through a rigorous re-certification and exam process every 5 years.
LC’s are experienced in a broad variety of complex breastfeeding issues.
They are competent to help women to establish and maintain breastfeeding, especially in difficult situations, with both the mother and her baby in mind.
LC’s are bound by the IBCLC Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice and they work within its defined Scope of Practice.
Why should I call Caroline?
It has been estimated to cost approximately $3600.00 for the first year to bottle feed a baby. If I can help to make the breastfeeding journey a smooth and enjoyable one for you, the health benefits for you and your family will far out weigh the initial cost.
Will you travel to me?
I sure will, yes. The first 15 minutes of my journey (from Narromine) is free with a flat rate of $1.20/km thereafter. Travel to Dubbo is a flat rate of $40 as I often see two clients when in Dubbo so sharing travel is fair. I’m also happy to split travel between friends living in the same town is you are both seen on the same day.
Do you Zoom (offer virtual consultations)?
Whilst I am able to see you virtually under specific circumstances, in person is much better. Give me a buzz and we can discuss your options if distance is an issue.
Can I call you to see if you are the right fit for me?
Of course you can! In fact, please do. A 5 minute chat is free of charge/complimentary.
How do I pay?
I bring my mobile eftpos port with me to each appointment for contactless payment. So easy!
How is my confidentiality assured?
I am bound by the IBCLC Code of Conduct and all electronic information is password protected. Paper based records are kept under lock and key.
Your consultation is private and therefore will remain so, unless you have specifically asked for information to be shared with another health care provider.
Are you insured/What insurances do you hold?
I have Professional Indemnity and Public & Products Liability Insurance.
Of which Associations are you a Member?
LCANZ- Lactation Consultants of Australia & New Zealand
ABA- Australian Breastfeeding Association.
IBCLC - International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners
Do you sell any products?
I carry a limited range of items that I believe to be incredibly useful for breastfeeding and caring for your baby. At times during consultations I may suggest these to you as I see they could help in your particular situation, however there is no pressure to buy any merchandise from me.
